E FARM PRO was invited to participate in the event Climate Innovations Made in Ukraine: Driving Global Sustainability, organized by the NGO Greencubator with the support of the Ukraine-Moldova American Enterprise Fund, as part of the Ukrainian pavilion. The event featured the presentation of eight climate innovations developed in Ukraine, aimed at promoting global sustainability, followed by a discussion on the topic.

“We create technologies that improve life on our planet. These include autopilots, agricultural navigation systems, and monitoring tools. Our focus is on addressing environmental challenges and supporting sustainable development in the agricultural sector, even amid the war in Ukraine. Our technologies not only help reduce carbon emissions but are now also used for humanitarian demining. We’ve developed robots with remote control systems that once served agriculture but now work to ensure safe living conditions in communities. Our goal is to restore Ukraine's agricultural sector and make it safe for everyone,” said E FARM PRO CEO Oleksandr Prykhodchenko.

The Impact of War on the Environment

The war in Ukraine has devastating consequences not only for food security but also for the environment:

  • Loss of arable land: Due to landmines and shelling, farmers have lost significant areas of fertile soil.
  • Destruction of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant: Large-scale flooding, water contamination with toxins, and ecosystem damage.
  • Soil contamination: Bombings and fires release hazardous substances into the soil.
  • Greenhouse gas emissions: The war has significantly increased CO₂ emissions, worsening the climate crisis.

Summer 2024 marked a record heatwave in Ukraine, with temperatures exceeding 41°C. This led to crop failures, including a 30% reduction in potato harvests and a 10 million-ton decrease in grain yields compared to 2023, according to economist Oleh Pendzin.

A Global Problem Requires Global Solutions

At the COP29 conference, E FARM PRO emphasized that the climate crisis is a global issue that cannot be addressed without considering the impact of armed conflicts. These challenges affect not only Ukraine but the entire world.

The company’s representatives actively participated in panels focused on digital agriculture and sustainable agrotechnologies. One of their key objectives was to establish partnerships with international organizations, including the UN, and government bodies from Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkey, and African countries. This collaboration offers opportunities for:

  • Expanding to new markets with sustainable agrotechnologies.
  • Developing educational programs for farmers on eco-friendly farming practices.
  • Jointly tackling climate challenges through innovation.

Ukraine as a Global Leader in Agribusiness

Despite the war, Ukrainian startups like E FARM PRO have once again demonstrated that Ukraine remains an active player in the global climate discourse. The company showcased how innovations can drive solutions to environmental challenges and support sustainable development.
